Photodynamic Therapy in Face Rejuvenation
Microdermabrassion is useful for various different skin conditions. In general it is considered as a progressive treatment programme and patients need between 2 and 6 treatment sessions.
Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is an ideal treatment that minimises recovery time, increases cells’ vitality and stimulates fibroblasts by photoexcitation.
Photodynamic therapy can be applied at multiple treatment sessions.
Before a microdermabrasion, phototherapy can be used to prepare the skin or it can be applied after microdermabrasion to enhance tissue regeneration and reduce recovery time.
Effectiveness through the use of invasive dermatological Lasers
This is a sophisticated Medical application for face and skin rejuvenation and regeneration though the use of the most advanced LASER technology: a combination of ERBIUM Nd:YAG and state-of-the-art Fractional- CO2 LASER.
In the past, Laser applications for skin smoothing were effective for static and smaller wrinkles and photoageing, but long recovery period due to complete sublimation, total exfoliation and wide thermal damage could not be avoided.
A specialised scanner divides CO2 emissions in small spots (dots) with a special pulse form. It includes a high energy accessory, designed to provide sublimation without causing tissue sloughing. Therefore it also allows thermal diffusion to the skin apart from its sublimation.
Laser sources have evolved rapidly during the last decades, but it was not until the last years that we show them working successfully in fractional applications, including wrinkles, acne scars and other disorders.
Fractional Lasers, characterised by enhanced and innovative technology have gained widespread acceptance.
Clinical improvement is achieved through sculpturing due to sublimation and remodelling during healing process, after the controlled thermal injury and the shrinkage of collagen with direct effects on skin tightening.
Fractional application allows the combination of the effectiveness of methods using sublimation with the safety of non-invasive techniques, so that to produce a unique pattern of thermal injury through the heating of the skin in vertical columns, rather than horizontally along the entire skin.
Therefore effective application is achieved with minimal recovery time and minimal risk of side effects.
The configuration of parameters defines the recovery time, which varies from 2 to 7 days depending on patient’s needs and willingness.
Next applications should be conducted after a period of 3-4 weeks.

- Initial stages of skin loosening
What is actually achieved is the removal of old, aged, blurred skin in a simple and painless manner (through the application of EMLA) and its replacement with new and softer skin with no problems.
This method has dual action
1. Due to the selective action of LASER, heat is absorbed by skin’s Η2Ο and its temperature increase stimulates fibroblasts (BIOSTIMULATION), which then produce collagen and elastin (BIORESTORATION), with the following results:
- IMPROVEMENT of skin TEXTURE
- SMOOTHING surface wrinkles
- REDUCTION of deeper wrinkles
2. It removes the outer layer of the skin, eliminating dead (cornfield) cells, and other deeper lesions by gradually peeling the skin.
As a result, the organism produces a new, softer, shinier and healthier skin, further supported by the BIOSTIMULATION and BIORESTORATION process.
Application of the method
The method is painless and safe. It is conducted with topical application of EMLA cream and lasts 20-30 minutes. Following this special pharmaceutical products are applied topically as well as sunscreen.
Immediately after LASER application, erythema may occur, which sometimes may be more profound, depending on the severity of each individual case.
In addition to this depending on the severity and the relevant increase of power, sometimes before skin exfoliation a darker tint may appear on the skin for 1-2 days, which completes the peeling within 3-5 days.
During the first 3-5 days after the application of the method, sun and heat exposure should be avoided, while there is no problem after the sunset.
After the 6th day there is no need for sun protection, apart from the normal use of sunscreen, as usual.
In darker skin with hyperpigmentation due to the sun or melasma, chloasma and in individuals with skin type 3-4 special preparation is essential for at least 10-15 days before Laser application.
- LASER is applied all over the face, even on the neck and hands.
- Kinetic or expression wrinkles (glabella, goose leg, etc) as well as nasolabial folds can ONLY be treated with ΒΟΤΟΧ and special IMPLANTS, which in combination with the application of Laser improve the face totally and greatly.
